A man accused of shooting at sheriff’s SWAT team members during a 12-hour standoff in Oildale pleaded not guilty Thursday to 26 charges.
Keith Julifs, Jr. , 37, is facing five counts each of attempted murder and assault with a gun on a peace officer among other charges.
On Monday, deputies with the Special Investigations Division learned Juilfs was allegedly armed and hunkered down inside a house in the 100 block of Ray Street.
Julifs reportedly fired several shots at SWAT team members as they approached the home and occasionally fired more shot during the stand-off.
Deputies say Julifs was armed with an assault rifle loaded with armor-piercing ammunition,
He’s being held without bail and goes back to court May 19.
Authorities say Julifs has previous convictions for recklessly evading a peace officer, felony assault, and burglary.
