The Bakersfield Police Department’s bomb squad responded Sunday to Bakersfield Heart Hospital Sunday following the discovery of a small destructive device.

Police say a security guard found the device inside the hospital on Sillect Avenue and removed it from the building. There’s no word exactly what was found.

The bomb squad was called in as a precautionary measure.

Officials say the hospital was not placed on lockdown. There was no threat to the public.
