A 38-year-old Taft woman is dead following a crash near Elk Hills.

The California Highway Patrol says an SUV crossed into oncoming traffic and hit a semi-truck head-on on Taft Highway east of Tupman Road Tuesday afternoon.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver suffered minor injuries.

There’s no word on the victim’s name or if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
