former sheriff’s deputy convicted of sexual battery

A jury has convicted a former Kern County sheriff’s deputy of numerous sex crimes.

Michael Clark was accused of preying on several women, touching them, and making crude remarks.

He lost his job in 2019.

At trial, Clark told the jury he consensually kissed and touched a woman to whom he gave a ride. He also admitted to making sexually explicit remarks to several women, but said he never broke the law.

He was convicted on charges including sexual battery, assault by a public officer, and stalking.

Sentencing is set for July 16.
