man who shot mcfarland k9 cop enters plea

A 41-year-old man has pleaded no contest to nine charges after shooting a K-9 cop and pointing a gun at McFarland police officers.

Eduardo Figueroa led police on a chase through McFarland, then refused to get out of his car at East Sherwood Avenue and San Lucas Street on New Year’s Day 2022.

K-9 Axel was deployed and bit Figuroa who shot the dog and then pointed the gun at officers. They shot back and struck Figueroa.

The dog survived.

Figueroa later told investigators he expected to be shot.

He faces more than twenty years in prison when he’s sentenced in August.
