A 67-year-old woman has pleaded no contest to embezzling thousands of dollars from the Delano Philippine Weekend Committee.

Delilah Mascarinas was charged in 2023 and pleaded no contest last Tuesday to embezzlement by a public officer and check fraud.

Mascarinas stole some $20,000 on gift cards through an account designated for use by the committee but told authorities she intended to pay it back.

She faces up to three years and eight months in prison.

The Philippine Weekend Committee organizes an annual two-day event celebrating Filipino culture.
