In the largest turnout of voters in its history, members of SEIU Local 521 in Kern County have overwhelmingly voted to approve a new two-year contract with the County of Kern.

The agreement reached May 21st and announced Monday was supported by 92% of the voting members and comes after months of negotiations.

The new contract includes a 6% across-the-board wage increase, a $1500 bonus, increased bilingual pay, and adjustments to uniform and tools allowances.

The agreement will take effect once the Kern County Board of Supervisors approves it at their meeting June 17.
