One of the suspects charged in a deadly shooting in east Bakersfield was released from prison just six days before the killing.
Court records indicate Darwin Young, Jr., 20, was sent to prison in 2024 after being convicted of gun and gang charges, and got out on May 21, 2025, six days before he allegedly shot Damien Bullard, 26, and Anthony Ochoa, 27, in the 1600 block of Flower Street.
Young and Ramahs Turner, 17, each face two counts of murder and a robbery charge. Nancy Ruiz, 20, is also charged with robbery.
Prosecutors say the crime was committed for the benefit of the Eastside Crips street gang.
Young and Ruiz have pleaded not guilty and return to court next week. Turner will appear in juvenile court in July, however prosecutors want to charge him as an adult.
