The Bakersfield Police Department says they are prepared as protests in opposition to federal immigration raids increase across the country.

Chief Greg Terry tells KGET his officers will not tolerate violence.

A protest is planned this Saturday at the Liberty Bell in downtown Bakersfield, and Terry says BPD has talked with organizers to help keep things peaceful.

He adds the Bakersfield Police Department has no role in immigration enforcement.
