A man has been severely burned during an explosion and fire in Taft.

It happened Sunday at around 11 a.m. in the 100 block of Loma Vista Avenue where firefighters and Taft police found the badly injured man in front of a burning garage.

The Midway Driller reports the man was taken to Taft Airport to be transferred to a medivac helicopter.

It’s unclear what caused the explosion.
