vacant bottling plant destroyed by fire

An iconic Bakersfield building has been destroyed by fire.

Crews responded early Monday morning to the Seven-Up bottling plant on east 18th Street to find the structure fully engulfed in flames.

The building was vacant after the company moved out several weeks ago. It was built in 1934.

There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
