A woman was shot during an officer-involved shooting in southwest Bakersfield.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday when the woman charged toward Bakersfield police officers responding to reports of an assault outside the Walmart Supercenter in the 5000 block of Gosford Road.

Police say the shooting occurred when the woman brandished a large hunting knife. She’s listed in stable condition at the hospital.

Detectives are conducting the investigation.
