A 7-year-old boy is safe after being abducted in Ridgecrest.

An Amber Alert issued Friday afternoon said the child was believed to be traveling in an SUV driven by Michael Abbott, 42.

Police sent an update within an hour of the alert to say the child had been found and that Abbot had been arrested. The two were located in Santa Clarita.

Abbot faces charges of kidnapping and child abduction.

There’s no word on the connection between Abbot and the boy.
