We’re learning more about the arrest of Fernando Jara, the husband of 5th District Kern County Supervisor Leticia Perez.

Bakersfield police say officers responded Saturday morning to the couple’s home on Alta Vista Drive to perform a welfare check on Jara who allegedly made threats to other people during a mental health crisis.

BPD says Jara was uncooperative with officers and a crisis intervention specialist and a brief SWAT standoff occurred. Jara was arrested with minimal force. Perez and her children were not home when the arrest took place.

Jara is being held on $100,000 bail and is due in court Tuesday.
