A young child who died inside a hot car in southwest Bakersfield has been laid to rest.

A funeral was held in Porterville Monday for Amilio Guiterrez, 1, who died after his mother allegedly left him and his brother Mateo, 2, inside a car while she had a lip-filler treatment at a medical spa on Real Road June 29. Mateo survived.

Maya Hernandez, 20, of Visalia, faces murder charges after reportedly telling officers she left the car running with the air conditioner set to 60 degrees. The car shut off after an hour. The boys were inside the vehicle for more than two hours.

Hernandez remains in custody on more than $1 million bail and is due back in court July 24.
