A man has been charged with attempted murder after three pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in south Taft.
Kern County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the 300 block of Naylor Avenue just before midnight Saturday night where a car struck a pedestrian who was taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Deputies located two other men who had been hit, one with severe injuries and the other with minor injuries.
All three victims were struck by the vehicle allegedly driven by Ruperto Torres, 22, who was arrested in the area of Oak and Amber Streets around 2:20 a.m.
Torres faces charges of attempted murder, mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon, and resting arrest.
He’s also being held on warrants for drunk driving and evading officers in a vehicle.
Bail is set at $726,000.
