funeral held for bakersfield couple killed in arkansas

More than two hundred people gathered in Bakersfield to mourn the deaths of a couple killed while hiking in Arkansas.

Funeral services were held at Grace Baptist Church on Monday for Clinton Brink, 43, and his wife Cristen, 41, who died last month protecting their daughters during an attack at Devil’s Den State Park in Arkansas.

On July 26, 2025, the Brinks took their 7 and 9-year-old daughters hiking at the park where 28-year-old James McCann allegedly stabbed Clinton as Cristen took the girls to safety.

Cristen went back for her husband but both were found dead on the trail.

Clinton was a certified nursing assistant. Cristen was a nurse and former volleyball player at California State University San Bernardino.

McCann was arrested after a long manhunt and pleaded not guilty to two capital murder charges.
