oilfield explosion lawsuit settled

A lawsuit filed over an explosion that injured a Kern County oil well worker has been settled.

Leonardo Andrade filed a lawsuit in April 2023 against the companies involved in the oil well operation after the explosion which broke his pelvis and both of his legs.

The case was settled on Monday, but the details of the payout haven’t been released.

The explosion in December 2022 caused Andrade to be thrown into the air over 60 feet. His internal organs were ruptured and he suffered a serious brain injury that left him in a coma for several days.

The lawsuit alleged E&B Natural Resources Management Corporation, National Wellbore Solutions, and Golden Empire Welding & Fabrication were aware of the issues with the well since the day prior, but didn’t warn Andrade of the dangerous conditions.
