A hearing has been postponed until October for a former Kern County Supervisor facing allegations of child cruelty.
Former District Two supervisor Zack Scrinver was a no-show in court Tuesday, but his attorney and prosecutors met privately with the judge to work out a possible plea bargain.
The State Attorney General’s Office alleges Scrivner took mind-altering substances, then got into bed with one of his children and touched the child inappropriately in April 2024.
He’s charged with three counts of child cruelty and two counts of possessing an assault rifle.
Controversy surrounds the case after no sex charges were filed.
Numerous postponements have taken place in the year since Scrivner was arrested at his home in Tehachapi. He’s not in custody.
The next hearing is set for October 16.
