A pedestrian is dead after being struck by two cars in northeast Bakersfield.

Police responded Monday morning to the 3300 block of Union Avenue to find a man down in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened when a driver struck the man as he walked outside the crosswalk. Another car hit the victim as he lay in the roadway. The first driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police but the second driver took off.
