California Resource Corporation buys Berry oil

California Resource Corporation has announced plans to buy longtime Western Kern oil producer Berry Oil.

It’s a deal valued at $717 million. Both sides say they’re happy with the acquisition of Berry Corporation, a move by Kern County’s two largest oil producers anticipated to create a bigger, more cost-efficient oil and gas production company.

The deal gives CRC an additional 20,000 barrels per day of oil production.

Berry owns abut 100,000 acres of oil land in Utah and 20,000 in California.

CRC is a major oil and gas producer and also has a carbon management division.

CRC recently bought Aera Energy LLC.
