Two former softball players from Cal State Bakersfield have filed a lawsuit against the university.

The suit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County alleges Head Softball Coach Letty Olivarez and Assistant Coach James Davenport created a sexually-charged environment because they openly discussed their sex lives with the team between 2022 and 2025.

It also claims other players came forward with complaints of harassment against Davenport and were punished by not being included in away tournaments, and that the university failed to escalate their complaints.

Davenport is also alleged to have physically assaulted one student in the girl’s locker rooms.

The lawsuit follows allegations against CSUB’s former assistant basketball coach Kevin Mays who was arrested September 4, 2025, for alleged pimping and pandering and charges of possessing child pornography.

CSUB says the university pledges to remain transparent throughout the process.
