Chevron Corporation has laid off 75 employees at its San Joaquin Valley headquarters and Kern River Field in Bakersfield.
The second wave of cutbacks comes after 50 employees were let go earlier this year. Chevron says the layoffs will be permanent and the affected employees will receive severance pay, medical coverage, access to education and training resources and outplacement assistance.
The cutbacks come as U.S. oil companies cut jobs in response to falling crude prices, higher tariffs, and a wave consolidation in the industry.
