BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A driver who pleaded no contest to killing a bicyclist while driving drunk in south Bakersfield has been sentenced to twelve years in prison.
Caleb Rodriguez, 27, learned his fate last week after pleading no contest to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, hit and run causing death, and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, following the accident in March 2022 that took the life of Raven Mora, 30, as she rode her bike along South Union Avenue east of White Lane.
Police interviewed witnesses who reported seeing Rodriguez at two bars in the hours leading up to the crash.
A bartender said she served Rodriguez five bottles of Coors Light and a shot of green tea containing alcohol prior to the accident.
