BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Bakersfield police are stepping up DUI patrols for the holidays.
Extra officers have been on the streets since last Friday, looking for suspected impaired drivers.
Police say the operation, lasting though New Year’s Day, is part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
A first-offender DUI driver can face up to $10,000 in fines, impound fees, and other associated costs, not to mention the trauma that comes with causing injury or death in a DUI accident.
