BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The California Highway Patrol has announced the results of the 2025 Christmas Holiday Enforcement Period.
CHP officers conducted 5,450 enforcement actions, issued 2,744 citations, and made 297 DUI arrests between 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and 11:59 p.m. Christmas Day.
1,385 speeding citations were issued, including 94 drivers caught traveling over 100 miles per hour.
The CHP handled six crashes resulting in eight deaths.
Officers say speeding, impaired driving, and failure to wear seat belts continue to be leading factors in serious and fatal crashes.
