BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — An officer-involved shooting in northwest Bakersfield has sent a man to the hospital.

Officers tried to make a traffic stop near Mohawk Street and Sienna Lane at around 2:15 a.m. Monday when the suspect ran from the car after stopping on Latina Drive and Pisa Way.

Police say the man pointed a handgun at an officer who fired at him.

The suspect is in the hospital. There’s no word on his condition.
