BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Kern County Supervisor Philip Peters has been appointed chairman of the 2026 Board of Supervisors.
The District 1 supervisor was appointed by a 5-to-0 vote on Monday.
Previous chair Leticia Perez of District 5 passed the torch to Peters, saying, “I know you’re going to do a fantastic job.” Perez will now serve as Vice Chair.
A post by the County of Kern states the annual rotation ensures shared leadership as the board moves forward with a renewed focus on collaboration and continued service to the Kern County community.
