PORTERVILLE, CA (KUZZ) — Authorities say the man suspected of fatally shooting a Tulare County sheriff’s deputy is dead.
Sheriff Mike Boudreaux says the alleged shooter was killed Thursday evening when a Kern County SWAT team in an armored vehicle ran over him.
Michael Morales was suspected of gunning down a sheriff’s office detective who was part of a team serving an eviction notice Thursday morning in Porterville.
Detective Randy Hoppert was taken to a hospital where he later died.
His wife is four months pregnant.
