A Wasco man died and his passenger was severely injured in a high-speed crash near Lemoore.

A Highway Patrol officer on routine patrol saw the solo-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on Houston Avenue near Highway 198.

The CHP says a 20-year-old Wasco man failed to negotiate a curve and hit a concrete barrier after leaving the roadway.

The 23-year-old male passenger in the car suffered major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.

There’s no word if alcohol or drugs contributed to the accident.
