The California Highway Patrol will launch a statewide Holiday Enforcement Period for the July 4 weekend.
Beginning at 6:01 p.m. Thursday and continuing through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, all available CHP officers will be out in full force, focusing on impaired, distracted and aggressive drivers.
During a recent statewide crackdown in June, CHP officers issued nearly 18,000 citations including 400 arrests for DUI, more than 12,000 for speeding, and 860 for distracted driving.
The CHP urges you to buckle up, slow down, designate a sober driver, and in case of an emergency, call 9-1-1.
