Highway 178 in the Kern Canyon will remain closed this week as SoCal Edison continues to make repairs.

A full closure began at around 3:39 p.m. on Friday, September 12., after downed power lines affected the roadway.

The lines were cleared from the road later that night, but SoCal Edison kept the road closed through the weekend.

The California Highway Patrol reports the highway was open Sunday night, however the roadway is scheduled to close during the week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. as SoCal Edison continues repairs.
