A homicide investigation is underway following a fatal shooting in Taft.

The Kern County Sheriff’s Office says medical aid was dispatched to the 200 block of Philippine Street at around 4 a.m. Monday.

Homicide detectives arrived at around 4:15 a.m. and cordoned off the entire block during the investigation.

Deputies say Nahaman Bucato, 34, was arrested. There’s no word yet on the victim’s name or what prompted the shooting.
