A professional Stevie Wonder impersonator accused of grabbing a young girl at a Bakersfield convenience store has been committed to a mental hospital.
Tino Ibach, 54. will spend at least two years at the institution in an effort to restore him to competency following his arrest June 30, 2025, after he allegedly touched a young girl at a convenience store in the 3600 block of Stockdale Highway.
A Superior Court judge on Thursday determined Ibach was unable to make decisions regarding his medication, and ordered the hospital to administer medically appropriate drugs.
Ibach was found incompetent to stand trial last month and the criminal case was put on hold.
Charges include attempting to kidnap a child under 14, two felony sex-related offenses, and misdemeanor battery.
