BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A hearing has been postponed in the case of a former Kern County Sheriff’s Office detentions deputy facing felony drunken driving charges.
The attorney for George Benavides, 51, said Wednesday that discussions were ongoing to potentially resolve the case.
Benavides was reportedly involved in an accident that injured two people in another vehicle on Rosedale Highway last April.
Police say Benevides told investigators he drank six beers within four hours and was driving home from Benji’s Restaurant on Rosedale Highway when the accident happened.
A new hearing date has been set for next week.
