BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Motorists should expect delays through the Kern River Canyon on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Caltrans announces there will be one-way traffic control on Highway 178 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday as crews perform routine maintenance on the roadway.
Workers will be performing shoulder and pothole repairs, graffiti removal, and blasting operations, among other improvements.
The one-way traffic will happen through a two-mile section of the canyon.
Expect delays of up to ten minutes.
