BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Police arrested fourteen people during a sweep of homeless encampments in central Bakersfield.
Thirty-six encampments were removed January 14, 2026, from the Kern Riverbed between the 24th Street over-crossing and the Kern River Upland Park Weir.
Flood Ministries provided housing assistance to a woman at the Brundage Lane Navigation Center.
Eleven animals were taken into protective custody.
Encampments can be reported to the City of Bakersfield through its free Bakersfield Mobile App or through the city’s online Service Request portal.
