BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A preliminary hearing has begun for a Bakersfield man accused of murder in the fatal drug overdose of his 2-year-old son.
Raul Rivera, 26, is being held on more than $1 million bail after his son Ezekiel Rivera died from a fentanyl overdose at a house on Sentido Drive in June 2023.
Raul told authorities he administered Narcan to the boy and called 9-1-1 after finding him motionless.
Authorities say another child in the home tested positive for fentanyl but survived.
