BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Kern County judge has determined there is enough evidence to try a Bakersfield man for the alleged drug overdose of his 2-year-old son.
The preliminary hearing for Raul Rivera concluded Wednesday, meaning the 26-year-old will stand trial for the fentanyl overdose of his son Ezekiel Rivera at a house on Sentido Drive in June 2023.
Sheriff’s officials say Rivera administered Narcan to his son after finding him unresponsive.
Rivera is being held on more than $1 million bail and will be arraigned February 9, 2026.
