BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — An 83-year-old Bakersfield man will not stand trial for allegedly shooting his wife to death after being found incompetent to stand trial.
A judge has ruled Michael Wildrick is unable to understand the charges against him and will undergo mental health treatment instead of being tried on murder charges.
In September 2025, Wildrick reportedly shot and killed his wife Emma as she approached him in the driveway of their house on Tulane Park Place.
Wildrick reportedly was planning to turn his wife in to authorities for allegedly stealing his money.
A hearing is set for March 4 to determine which facility will treat Wildrick,
