BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Today is President’s Day, a U.S. federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February.
Because the holiday falls between the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, many states use it to honor both.
And President’s Day is widely viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents.
Because it is a federal holiday, all non-essential federal, state, and local government offices are closed, including city halls, courthouses, and DMVs.
There is no regular mail delivery or pickup, and most brick-and-mortar banking institutions are closed.
Most schools is Kern County are also closed today.
