WASHINGTON, D.C. (KUZZ) — A young Bakersfield girl who was injured by an alleged undocumented immigrant driving an 18-wheeler was honored by President Trump at the State of the Union address Tuesday night.
First-grader Delilah Coleman was five years old when the car in which she was a passenger was struck by a big-rig in the Mojave Desert in June 2024.
Delilah underwent three months of therapy and will need lifelong care.
The tractor-trailer rig was allegedly being driven by Pardeep Singh, 20, who was allowed entry into the United State by the Biden administration in October 2022.
Singh was apprehended by ICE agents in Fresno in 2025 and was deported back to India.
Following the accident, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem issued a statement on X, calling the incident another example of Gavin Newsom’s California issuing an illegal alien a Commercial Driver’s License.
