RIDGECREST, CA (KUZZ) — A Ridgecrest high school student was detained after allegedly being found with a stolen handgun on campus.
Police responded Wednesday to Mesquite Continuation High School on West Drummond Avenue after receiving reports of a student in possession of a gun making threats toward another student.
Officers found a loaded nine-millimeter handgun and a high-capacity magazine in the student’s backpack. Police say the gun was stolen out of Long Beach.
The student was detained on charges including suspicion of criminal threats and possession of a loaded firearm, among other charges.
