BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Bakersfield man who allegedly knocked a vehicle into a canal with his car is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and reckless driving.
Abel Almanza, 35, faces up to thirteen years in prison after allegedly ramming his Ford Expedition into another vehicle during a road rage incident that started on southbound Highway 99 near Ming Avenue in June 2020.
Prosecutors say Almanza followed the other vehicle onto South H Street and rammed it into a nearby canal.
The driver and his wife managed to escape the water.
Prosecutors say the incident started when Almanza claimed the other driver brake-checked him.
