BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — Bakersfield city councilwoman Manpreet Kaur is running for state senate.
KGET reports Kaur addressed a coalition of family, community members and local leaders on Sunday about her state senate candidacy for the seat in District 16.
District 16 covers much of the Central Valley and includes portions of Bakersfield, as well as parts of Kings, Tulare, and Fresno counties.
Democrat incumbent Melissa Hurtado and Republican businessman Guillermo Gonzales are also in the running.
The top two candidates in the June 2nd primary, regardless of party, will face off in the November general election.
