TEHACHAPI, CA (KUZZ) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who was shot dead during an attempted burglary in Tehachapi.
Jason Velasquez, 47, of Glendale, died at the scene March 7, 2026, when he was shot by a homeowner as he tried to get into a house in the 19000 block of Alta Vista Avenue.
The homeowner is cooperating with the investigation.
No arrests have been made.
