RIDGECREST, CA (KUZZ) — A suspect is apprehended after allegedly stealing a police patrol car in Ridgecrest.
Officers responded Sunday morning to the area of Highway 14 north of Highway 58 where Julian Harper, 41, allegedly assaulted another detainee in the back of the patrol car as he was being taken to Lerdo Jail.
The transporting officer pulled over to stop the attack when Harper allegedly stole another police cruiser and led deputies on a high-speed chase which ended with an accident. Harper was taken to a local hospital.
The officer and the people in the other car suffered minor injuries.
