SACRAMENTO, CA (KUZZ) — The California Board of Parole Hearings has denied release to a Bakersfield man convicted of murder.
The board found Robert Gonzalez, 53, continues to pose a risk to public safety.
Gonzalez shot and killed Jose Soto in a gang-related shooting on Marcus Street in Bakersfield in 1992 and was sentenced to 29 years to life in prison.
Parole commissioners considered Gonzales’s gang activity in the community and in prison, as well as his history of domestic violence and substance abuse, in their decision to keep Gonzalez locked up.
