BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — The Bakersfield City Council is considering a new ordinance to legalize and regulate short-term rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo in Bakersfield.
The proposal would require permits and business tax certificates for STR operators and would add rules on occupancy, noise, parking, trash, and nighttime pool use.
Officials say the measure addresses neighborhood complaints and housing concerns.
A first reading is scheduled for May 27, 2026 at City Hall, with a final vote possible at a later meeting.
