BAKERSFIELD, CA (KUZZ) — A Kern County Superior Court judge has ruled a Delano man accused of attacking McFarland police officers is not competent to stand trial.
Christopher Love, 34, faces charges including two counts of attempted murder, however proceedings will remain suspended while efforts are made to restore him to competency.
Police say Love stepped into traffic on May 1, 2026, forcing a patrol vehicle to stop, then climbed into the back seat and attacked officers with a pen. He also allegedly punched and tried to bite the officers.
Love remains in jail on $1 million bail and is due back in court June 29, 2026.
